How To Eliminate The 2pm Slump And Unlock New Levels Of Energy
I’ve had a few different jobs in my day in various fields and industries, but one thing is consistent:
Either myself or someone I’ve worked with hits a brick wall at around 2pm.
Energy gone.
Yawning in full effect.
I’ve even seen someone go as far as taking sneaky naps on the job.
It’s a tough cycle to be in, and fortunately it’s relatively simple to break, as long as you do at least 1 of the following 3 things:
1. Fix diet, sleep, caffeine intake, and hydration — This is the most obvious plan of attack and the most likely culprit. Eating more home cooked protein-rich, nutrient-dense foods instead of junk can do wonders for energy. Sleeping 6–8 hours, cutting off caffeine at noon, and drinking at least 2L water can make a big impact as well. But doing all this doesn’t always solve the issue.
2. Get your weight under control — Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve noticed I have so much more energy at 34 years old and 161lbs than I ever did at 23 when I was 196lbs with no muscle. A combination of diet and training got me to a much better physique and higher energy levels, even as a busy dad.
