How To Stop Being Afraid Of Carbs

I’m not sure who started it, but whoever it was did a good job at spreading their message that carbohydrates were the cause of everyone’s weight problems.

“Gotta watch the carbs”

“Don’t eat carbs at night”

“I’m going to cut carbs to lose weight”

And the interesting thing is plenty of those same people understand that carbs are important for athletic endeavors for both marathon runners and bodybuilders.

So what’s the deal with carbs anyway, and how do you stop being afraid of them?

I guess the first step is clearly defining what a carbohydrate is and what it isn’t in terms of food.

Some examples of carbs are:

  • Potatoes
  • Fruits
  • Rice
  • Maple syrup
  • Sugar

Pretty much anything starchy or sugary is a carb.

Then you have foods that have a lot of carbohydrates in them, but shouldn’t be…
