Reason 8675309 To Avoid Lifting TOO Heavy
There’s roughly a million different reasons to not lift too heavy, and one of them is because technique goes out the window.
And when you defenestrate your technique, injury risk goes up more than gas prices under a renewable energy focused president…
Pot stirring aside, I must say this:
The trick is finding the balance between pushing to get stronger and keeping your form on point.
It doesn’t matter if you can bench 315 if you tear a shoulder or pec because not only will that put you out of the gym…
Your regular daily life will become a struggle.
On the flip side, you’re simply not going to grow a decent chest benching 95lbs forever with perfect form.
The idea here is to take that perfect 95lbs bench and push that as far as you can week after week until you’re noticing form breaking down.
(Life hack: record your workouts to make sure your form is on point)
Once you notice technique is off, you can drop the weight 10% and rebuild or switch over to a new exercise to strengthen your target muscle from a slightly different angle and go from there.
That said…
