The 1 Rep Max Trap (And How To Avoid It)
I’m no stranger to pushing max strength in the gym and there was a point where I was testing my one rep up to 3 times per week back in 2015.
Knowing what I know now…
I never would have done that.
Knowing what I know now…
I wouldn’t even do all those 5x5 workouts I beat myself up over, just to get as strong as possible at the expense of hip pain, lower back pain, and this weird mentality of “I’m young, I’ll heal” which just resulted in more issues than benefits.
Instead, I’d take a very different approach much like I am now.
Something about wisdom as you age or something…
Anyway, I shot an impromptu video on my way back from the gym yesterday which talks about the approach I take now and what I recommend to make lifting a much more enjoyable experience while still getting consistent results.
