The Sprint Workout Mentality Will Do You Well (Here’s Why)
When it comes to getting in shape, it’s important to treat it like a marathon not a sprint.
Steady consistent actions over a long time period breed steady consistent results over said long time period.
However, when it comes to hitting the weights it’s better to take the exact opposite approach:
Do key exercises, hit them hard, and get out.
For example, years back I would go to the gym for a workout and wouldn’t leave until nearly 2 hours later.
Granted, I was doing a strength specific program and it worked well, but knowing what I know now, I could have got the same results in considerably less time.
A lot of those sets were far too easy, and easy sets don’t build much strength or muscle.
Contrast that to more recently while working out at home…
I spend 30 minutes or less working out because I’m focused, make every set and rep count, and every exercise I do has a specific purpose.
It’s interesting because I’m still making progress even with considerably lighter weight than when I was at the gym.
