Unbearably Sharp Stomach Pain Strikes Again…
Recently, I had some absolutely delicious beef stew my wife Martha made.
She prepped the stew beef, carrots, seasoning, and everything else except for one thing.
The potatoes.
She asked me to cut them up put them in the slow cooker and set it to low while she took care of our youngest who was adamantly calling for her.
So I did exactly that, but…
I made a dire mistake I would pay for later that night.
Here’s what happened:
I grabbed a few potatoes, aggressively scrubbed them off in the sink, and got to cutting them up.
I proceeded to put them in the slow cooker without even considering an important step that would have made my future self a whole lot happier:
Peeling the skin off.
Potato skin has a boatload of nutrients like potassium, iron, calcium, vitamin C, and more…
But it also can contain an unhealthy amount of glycoalkaloids depending on the source which can wreak havoc on the digestive system.
Despite that…
That day we ran some errands, enjoyed time together as a family, and when dinner time came around… we ate.
