When To Do Supersets For More Gains
Came a question from my Fitness Inner Circle:
“I’m writing this as I’m in the middle of one, but are supersets fine to finish an exercise quickly? I’m just trying to finish triceps quickly to so can go eat.”
The short answer?
Yes.
My much longer and more detailed answer is as follows:
So you got your regular sets where you do an exercise for a set number of reps…
Then you got your AMRAP sets where you do As Many Reps As Possible…
Then you got drop sets where you do as many reps as you can, then drop the weight and keep repping it out until you can’t no more…
And you got supersets where you do one exercise immediately followed by another exercise with no rest.
(there are a couple other types of sets as well, but we can save those for another day)
In the case of supersets, I don’t typically recommend them right out of the gate but they’re absolutely a useful tool for getting more work done in less time.
Done right, they won’t take away from your progress at all either.
