Why I Quit The Gym Last Year And Never Went Back

Recently, I got a question on one of my workout videos on Instagram:

“Why’d you only train light for 9 months?”

For context, I’ve been posting a video series where I’m rebuilding the strength I lost from quitting the gym, and the intro to every video states that I’ve been lifting light for 9 months.

But considering my goal is to help people get in shape, it’s a fair question.

And the reason I stopped going to the gym is straightforward:

My wife and I had our second daughter.

But not working out was not an option, so I had to figure out a way to exercise that didn’t take much time.

And sure, I could have went back to the gym after my wife was cleared to take care of both babies at the 6 week follow-up appointment…

But considering I was working 50–64 hours per week, plus a 15–60 minute commute depending on the location I worked at for the day as an auto repair shop floating manager, it just didn’t seem to make sense to spend another hour or two away from my family to hit the gym.

So I trained at home with everything I had:
