Not even 5 weeks ago, I started a 6 week diet to trim down some of the body fat I gained from several months of eating to gain strength and muscle.

And since starting, I’m now down 7.5 pounds which is a lot faster than I had planned.

My original goal was to drop 6 pounds in 6 weeks, so it’s safe to say I achieved that.

Here’s why this worked so quickly:

The first thing to know is when you’re in a steady state of eating more than your body needs, you’re going to maximize your muscles’ capacity to store glycogen.

If you’re not lifting weights, that storage is pretty low.

But if you are, the amount of glycogen your muscles can hold is quite surprising.

In my case, I’ve been hitting the weights consistently for a long time, so my storage was high.

When it came to that first week of dieting, I burned through that glycogen quickly which resulted in some rapid scale changes to the tune of 3.5lbs.

But that didn’t last long, because:

-Week 2 I lost 1.9lbs
-Week 3 I lost 0.1lbs
-Week 4 I lost 0.6lbs

And today’s weigh in has me down a total of 7.5lbs.
